How to Make Belizean Stew Chicken

So....the people want to know how fi mek #belizeanstewchicken

First....Issa must to clean your chicken! Cleaning your chicken consists of washing the protein in cold water with an acid....preferably lemon, lime, and/or vinegar! Prepping your chicken by cleaning it first will help to remove impurities like the slime, that weird yellow stuff often found around the heel of the drumsticks and/or joints as well as take away the smell of raw chicken.  Cleaning the chicken is the first step that most Belizean/Caribbean people do before consumption.

Next step is to season up your chicken....traditional Belizean Stew Chicken is usually prepared by using a recado (achiote) paste with other spices and herbs, but with @auntelmasbelizeanspices you can sprinkle as little and/or as much as you want to your liking to achieve the same flavors!!!!

Then, you will brown your chicken in wah li bit ah oil to bring out the rich colors of the recado (achiote) before you add in your liquid (water and/or chicken broth)

Finally, you bring it all to a nice boil, then lower to a simmer until the meat is so tender that it falls off the bone!

Pair the Stew chicken with some rice and beans, fried plantains, and salad, and you have a dish you'll love! #BelizeanStewChicken
